The new start menu is great if you are on a PC with a keyboard and mouse and feel the need for a start menu but its not really touch friendly.
What about users with convertible laptops? I would have to think there are more people out there that like the start screen and do not see the need foe a start menu. I probably will for my tablet and phone, but use the start menu for my laptop. Microsoft got the balance right with 8. I am sure Windows 10 will be great and so far I like some of the changes but the start menu returning just feels like Microsoft gave up. How many people who complained about the start button being missing never used 8.
I just had to downgrade my non-touch work laptop to Windows 7 last week from 8. Microsoft had a Vision and it was a great one show me another full featured touch interface that can scale from occasional user to enterprise class and it is a shame they may have to water that down for people who cannot adjust to a minor change.
