This game is a 3D platformer in the vein of Super Mario 64, starring Buzz Lightyear and consisting of levels loosely based on locations in Toy Story 2. As someone who grew up with the game, it's been a fun nostalgia trip to get to play it again, and I am happy to have it back in my collection. That said, taking off the rose-tinted glasses, it is overall a mediocre 3d platformer- not the best and not the worst.

I would recommend it if you grew up with this game and want to replay it, or if your someone who enjoys 3d platformers of this era, has already played all of the big ones and wants to try one they haven't played before.

Overall, I would say it's fun for a few hours but not really a must-play. This is an excellent platforming game albeit with some occasionally horrendous ledge-grab detection , the music is amazing, and it graphically doesn't look bad. But get the PS1 version. The graphics are clearer and it has CD-quality music. It is a slice of childhood. I'm so glad that I was able to find this game in working condition.

Only the first level is available at first, but the player can unlock more levels by collecting Pizza Planet tokens. Each level starts with a FMV scene taken from the movie except from the Nintendo 64 version—its low-capacity cartridge system meant that these movies were replaced with comic-strip type 'cutscenes'.

In each level, there are five Pizza Planet tokens that the player must collect. The player must collect at least one token to unlock the subsequent level. In the first level of every zone, Mr. Potato Head is missing a body part that the player has to retrieve in order to unlock a specific power-up. Some Pizza Planet tokens can only be collected with the use of a power-up, while others are merely easier to collect when a power-up is unlocked. Returning to previous levels is required to obtain Pizza Planet tokens that couldn't be retrieved earlier without a certain power-up.

In the last level of every zone, the player has to fight a boss to proceed to the next level. A certain number of tokens is required in order to access these "boss levels. In the last boss level, the player will face three mini-bosses from previous levels all at once: the Prospector Airport Infiltration , the Gunslinger Al's Penthouse and the Blacksmith Tarmac Trouble.
